Pat Harney

Owner and Founder. A native of Southern California, Pat has been in the construction business for over 35 years. He learned the trade working for his father, also a General Contractor. After moving to Northern California over 20 years ago, he has completed numerous successful construction projects from Santa Cruz to Santa Rosa. In 1998, Pat received his electrical contractors license and shortly thereafter founded a second Harney family business: Harney Lighting, Electric, Solar. With the electrical training and experience, Pat began implementing home energy conservation initiatives with lighting controls well before the trend hit the building industry.

That was the start of Pat’s commitment to sustainable building practices. Since this time, Pat has been closely involved with Marin County’s Building, Energy, Retrofit and Solar Transformation (BERST) task force, established to bring uniformity to green building codes and retrofits for commercial and residential buildings.

The two family-run businesses, Harney Construction and Harney Lighting, Electric, Solar, focus on projects in Marin and Sonoma counties.
